Arquitectura Viva and its director, Luis Fernández-Galiano, understand and regret the discomfort caused by the series Conversations. Filmed between 2013 and 2018, this documentary series of Fundación Arquia, now being streamed on Netflix, was left unfinished, and falls short of reflecting the diversity of our discipline. We will work to do better in giving voice to professionals of different contexts and generations, and stand firm in our commitment to ensure equality.
From 21 May onward Netflix offers Arquia/maestros, a series of documentaries produced in Spain that scans the professional careers of some leading figures of architecture – Spanish and international alike – through interviews conducted by the director of the series, Luis Fernández-Galiano. These audiovisual pieces take the viewer on an in-depth journey through the life and the principal works of fourteen masters who differ in style but are all intellectual heavyweights: Oriol Bohigas (1925-2021), Rafael Moneo (1937), Juan Navarro Baldeweg (1939), Antonio Fernández Alba (1927), Manuel Gallego (1936), Ricardo Bofill (1939-2022), Antonio Lamela (1926-2017), Federico Correa (1924-2020), Antonio Vázquez de Castro (1929), Álvaro Siza (1933), Eduardo Souto de Moura (1952), Renzo Piano (1937), Norman Foster (1935), and Peter Eisenman (1932).
