Marco Real Winery, Olite

Traditional in its attachment to the landscape and modern in its geometric and material refinement, this building is positioned among the rows of vineyards which carpet the Olite countryside. The need to include spaces for the commercialization and promotion of wines prompts the conception of the winery as a large country house with interior patio. The latter being in this case covered and with blurred limits, resulting from the subtle illumination of skylights and mobile oak trellises which articulate movement among the different spaces. The great concrete volume sheltering the cellar appears as a base of the horizontal stone box; the composition of its apertures highlights the volumetric unit and establishes a hushed dialogue with distant references such as the towers of the medieval Palace of the Kings of Navarra in the town of Olite.
