CapitaSpring tower in Singapore

Carlo Ratti  BIG Bjarke Ingels Group

In Singapore's financial district the Danish firm BIG and the Italian office of Carlo Ratti Associati have together built a mixed-use building 280 meters tall. The vertical elements on the facade are pulled apart like curtains, and the resulting curves give a peek into the vegetation inside.

With a built area of 93,000 square meters the tower contains 61 floors: 8 reserved for apartments; 4 unified to create a Green Oasis with spiraling walkways, designed as a space with venues for different kinds of events; and 29 for offices. On top is a Sky Garden where 150 species of edible plants are grown. From the podium up the skyscraper is home to over 80,000 plants.
