Titlis Project in the Swiss Alps

Herzog & de Meuron

The start of construction work on the Titlis Project in Engelberg, scheduled for completion in 2029, has been announced. In 2017, the firm Herzog & de Meuron was commissioned to renovate the Alpine resort of Titlis, located 3,000 meters above sea level, and in the process activate an antenna tower, taking advantage of breathtaking views in one of Switzerland’s most popular mountain destinations, one which brings over a million visitors a year.

The project builds on what is already built. A new restaurant with two volumes forming a cross is inserted into the existing steel structure, creating an iconic figure that is recognizable from afar, while a new station is built around the existing cable car system.
