In Puerto Natales, a city located in the southern end of Chile, between the Almirante Montt Gulf and the Última Esperanza Inlet, rises a hotel complex with a surface of some 5.000 square meters whose program is organized in three U-shaped pavilions, forming a large open space that affords panoramic views over the impressive landscape. The 72 double-height bedrooms take up two elongated volumes that adapt to the sloping terrain, while a third building contains the dining room, living areas, kitchen, administration offices, staff accommodations and two large multipurpose halls with views of the mountain range and the sea. Finally, a small volume that is separated from the main building contains the swimming pool, the sauna and an outdoor jacuzzi.

The different pieces of the complex are articulated around the central space, where part of the local vegetation has been preserved, in addition to some odd rocks that are so common in this area of such recent glacial past. All the spaces are connected to one another by long corridors that wish to make reference to the paths used to drive cattle from the stockyards to the traditional shearing warehouses of the region...[+]
