The Seville-based firm Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos has won the competition to expand and renovate the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid, located at Calle Requena 1, next to the Plaza de Oriente. Unifying the premises, the project integrates two adjacent buildings (Requena 3 and 5), preserving the main entrance and optimizing the functionality of the facilities. The additions will include: a new atrium, providing a bright open space; a rehearsal hall equipped with a solar-control system; and a café to foster social interaction and exchange of experiences between students and teachers.
