IQON tower in Quito

BIG Bjarke Ingels Group

Rising 130 meters, IQON is now the tallest structure in Quito. Located close to La Carolina Park, the new skyscraper – all of 55,000 square meters – offers residential, office, and retail units. It is characterized by its 'pixeled' facade of exposed concrete that functions as the building's structure. The individual 'pixels' or boxes with terraces are stacked 32 floors high and rotated to give the best possible views of the city and Pichincha Volcano. Celebrating the Ecuadorian capital's biodiversity, the high-rise is flecked with vegetation by means of sculptural concrete planters that are part of the architecture. All the apartments are through-units, with terraces on the north and south, ensuring cross ventilation and a sense of openness.
