In the Baiyun Central Business District of the city of Guangzhou, the company Infinitus China has inaugurated its new main offices. Containing close to 186,000 square meters, the complex – named Infinitus Plaza – comprises two buildings interconnected at multiple levels and forming the symbol of infinity. Optimization of the structure minimized the amount of concrete required and maximized the proportion of recyclable content: over 25,000 tons. Solar irradiation analysis determined the width of the open-air terraces, with a view to providing shade indoors, and also defined the arrangement of the perforated aluminum panels that wrap the volumes. Powered by photovoltaic energy and topped with green roofs, Infinitus Plaza includes a network of sprinklers that cool the atriums by spraying particles of collected rainwater onto ETFE membranes, activated when heated by the sun to a certain temperature.
