The new headquarters of the environmental and waste management company Bee’ha in Sharjah – capital of one of the seven emirates in the UAE – is designed like an array of dunes within its desert environment, protecting an inner oasis. The design by Zaha Hadid Architects won a competition called by the company in 2013, and the construction works are now nearing completion.The shape of the building – with a total area of 7,000 m² on a plot of 90,000 m² – has been optimized to respond to the prevailing winds and the intense sunlight, and seeks minimizing energy use as much in the construction process as in the daily use of the complex in the future...
