Tower C at Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base

Zaha Hadid Architects

Zaha Hadid Architects wins competition for Tower C at Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base, that will be a major business and technology center of the Chinese city, and will include residential and cultural developments as well as generous green zones. A high-rise by Zaha Hadid Architects – with offices, a hotel, cultural facilities, and shopping – addresses its location, connecting the park and adjacent squares through gardened terraces that merge at the base of its two towers, which rise 400 meters and are linked by bridges. The stepped podium integrates with the park to form a new public space. Using 3D tools that optimize efficiency in the architectural mass, the orientation, and the proportions of the facade, the design of Tower C presents a doubly insulated glass curtain that incorporates operable cavities, thus providing natural ventilation.

Connected to the district’s smart management networks which are constantly monitoring outdoor and indoor conditions, the environmental control systems inside the building are adjusted in real time to reduce energy consumption. The design also includes systems for collecting and recycling water, as well as photovoltaic panels to generate solar energy for the entire district.
