One of Legorreta's best-known works is the Monterrey bank headquarters, designed in 1984. Monterrey is a young, thriving industrial city full of life, but with an extreme climate, which was a determining factor in the design of the building.

The exterior appearance of the complex is that of a powerful volume, with small and sparse openings to the outside. Thick walls with a dark-colored plaster finish were used, and the few windows are reflective. Although the effect is somewhat disconcerting, they respond both to a real need for protection and to the desire to use materials in keeping with the industrial environment.
