The house is located in the southern border of Monterrey (Mexico), close to Chipinque ecological park, an urban landscape dominated by the Sierra Madre mountain range. The house’s design addresses the features of a plot marked by the presence of four beautiful tall trees. The architecture wraps, frames, and draws attention to these trees, making sure that each one of the main rooms in the house opens up to an outdoor space – courtyard, garden, or terrace –, and at the same time is delimited by a series of floating walls that blur the construction’s volume. These floating walls take center stage, and painted in bright colors they evoke not only neoplasticist modernity, but also make reference to the use of color in Mexican architecture, from its vernacular construction to that of masters like Barragán and Legorreta. Inside, color still plays a leading role. Vibrant wallpapers have been used in some areas of the house, with geometric patterns and bright colors that resonate with those of the Mexican floor tiles.
