New Maritime Station in the Port of Mahón
Barceló Balanzó Arquitectes

The capital of the island of Menorca, Mahón, boasts the Mediterranean’s largest natural harbor, a dynamic hub that day after day sees the coming and going of passengers and merchandise without ceasing to be a place of remarkable beauty. Antoni Barceló Baeza and Bàrbara Balanzó Moral’s plan for the new terminal goes hand in hand with a redevelopment of the entire pier, redistributing facilities and circulations for an across-the-board improvement of the seafront: a space without residual zones in the middle of which a porous linear building combines concrete portal frames and boarding bridges with traditional ceramic lattices.
