Landaburu Borda rural lodgings in Bera

Jordi Hidalgo Tané

The Catalan architect Jordi Hidalgo Tané (Olot, 1967) was commissioned to renovate and enlarge an early-20th-century building in Bera, a municipality in the Cinco Villas comarca of Navarre, and turn it into rustic accommodations. Shortlisted in the architecture section of the 2020 FAD Awards, the project has preserved the original stone construction and added a concrete pavilion dug into the mountain, its complex geometry addressing structural criteria to insert itself into the terrain through a composition of slopes, drops, openings, and the large concrete roof resting on a central pillar.
