This small vacation home designed by the architectural firm Tham & Videgård is located on a strategic promontory of the island of Krokholmen, very close to the city of Stockholm. The wooden construction faces a forest of conifers on one side, and impressive views over the open sea on the other. This relationship with the surroundings determines the layout of the house: while the bedrooms and bathroom are grouped together to benefit from the silent atmosphere of the woods, the living room and the kitchen, which are arranged around a fireplace, expand toward the exterior through a large window that efficiently frames views of the sea. The most characteristic feature of this house is its curvilinear section, which both inside and outside evokes the idea of a tent or canopy, and its haptic, friendly mood is reinforced by the material used: cedar wood. An untreated trellised wooden facade runs around both the indoor spaces and the small courtyard.
