Located on a hillside facing south in the Eastern Pyrenees, the school complex includes different facilities for kindergarten and primary school for three towns: Font-Romeu, Odeillo and Via. The situation of the site, as well as its exceptional views and sunning conditions, determine how the school is planned, stretching on one single level, creating a friendly scale for children and with no stairs. The classrooms, organized by ages, are distributed in boxes that are partially buried in the slope and covered by a single green roof, with the south facade open to the mountainous landscape. This guarantees thermal inertia in the spaces for teaching and also that they have natural light throughout the day, and the building is respectfully embedded in the hillside. An interior passage vertebrates the building, connecting the communal program from the access to the sports hall, located at the opposite end. The section of this passage takes different forms as it moves forward, making sure that the different areas receive light, and it opens up midway to a covered courtyard for rainy or snowy days. In contrast with the glass surfaces of the southern front, the side facades and roof have a granite gravel finish.
