This center for the palliative care of children, in the Czech city of Brno, also provides rehabilitation, therapy, and holistic support for the patients’ families. In contact with the surrounding nature, the complex is embedded into the slope of the site with three levels and green roofs, blending with the environment.

The main floor is organized around a central void, presenting four areas differentiated by function: daily activities (physiotherapy, art therapy, music therapy, a pool for watsu therapy or snoezehen, and a cinema) distributed in turn around a smaller courtyard; a public space for visitors; the patient rooms; and a separate space with a room for last farewells, with its own memorial atrium.

The level intended for families is deliberately set apart for privacy. The common room for informal meetings with other families has direct access to a terrace offering panoramic views. The underground part contains offices, storage, and technical facilities. Concrete is the main construction material, combined with glazed panels and larchwood.
