Embedded in dark porphyry on a steep incline, this residence rises on the north slope of Puig Gros, a small promontory that protects the harbor of Port de la Selva, a municipality in Girona province, on the Costa Brava. Optimizing solar orientation and views of the sea horizon, the two-floor concrete construction breaks up its upper level into two volumes. A glass-encased prism connects these while serving as a barrier against the Tramontana wind. Through courtyards, the lower story relates more intimately with the exterior.
