As first prize winner of the Asea Brown Boveri competition, Giorgio Grassi has been assigned the development of two of the five blocks conceived by him for the whole area, precisely two of the three intermediate H-shaped volumes that characterize his joint proposal. This further development does not introduce any substantial variation with respect to the general proposal, based on the baroque building of the bordering Friedrichstadt. Of the two outer courtyards formed by each of the H-blocks, the larger ones are those that open onto the linear park, of which they thus become an extension, while those corresponding to Kothenerstrasse, which are narrower, act as setbacks from the public road. In the middle of the largest of the courtyards stands a small pavilion providing access to the suburban and subway railway lines, which run underground beneath the buildings...[+]
