The Madrid firm of Fuensanta Nieto and Enrique Sobejano has won the competition to enlarge a high-performance ice skating center in the Berlin borough of Lichtenberg. In compliance with functional and technical requirements, the new volume resembles the existing ice rink building in shape, but is smaller. The dynamism and elegance of skating is reflected in an elongated building decked with continuous horizontal metal shutters.
