Contrary to what might be expected, Minoru Yamasaki's Picasso Tower does not require (nor does it make use of) any great structural boasts. It is a reasonably correct structure: a load-bearing and bracing structure on the façade on which beams with spans of around 10 meters are loaded. These are also supported by pillars located in the service core, and support a slab of sheet metal and concrete. A partially “tubular” global scheme is thus configured (the wind structure would behave as a “tube”), which has its true field of application in more daring proposals than the present building: the scheme is truly applicable to slendernesses that exceed twice that of the building... [+]
