Overlooking the port of Stockholm, this wooden residence rises on an irregular plot bordered by steep cliffs. A work of the practice of Erik Kolman and Victor Boye, it seeks to reduce its environmental footprint to a minimum. By partly clinging to the cliff it manages to obtain the height necessary for an additional floor, so the building’s visual impact is kept low as well.

The choice of materials also highlights the project’s commitment to aesthetics and functionality. Knotty pinewood was transformed into knot-free timber through a sawing and gluing process. The invisible structural parts were made of knotty wood, while the visible surfaces are composed of impeccable pieces, carefully selected to offer a polished appearance.

A central wooden staircase connects and organizes the three floors efficiently, ensuring that each level has direct access to different areas of the terraced garden. The middle level harbors the main entrance, while the upper story is given over to an open kitchen and living-room area.
