Helios Park, a baseball field in Ciudad Acuña – in the Mexican state of Coahuila – was clearly in a state of neglect and deterioration. An undertaking of SEDATU (Mexico’s Secretariat for Agrarian, Land, and Urban Development), the refurbishment sought to revive the sport facilities as a space that would be multipurpose, fit to accommodate different kinds of public events.
The design of the covered pavilion was based on the repetition of a prefabricated structural section, shortening execution times, and this was applied to the different parts of the building, including the stands. The material makeup of the project is defined by a color palette of reds and ochers. The reddish tones of the metal structure, the pavements, and the gravels do much to unify the complex.
