Mínimo Común Arquitectura

Located in the middle of farmland in Curuguaty, a city in the Canindeyú Department of Paraguay, 350 kilometers from the capital, Asunción, this 200-square-meter office building by the local firm Mínimo Común Arquitectura rises on a platform, set 1.5 meters off the ground. The pavilion is built with bricks of earth fabricated on the site with a press, and surrounded with a white lattice also made of earth.

In a climate where temperatures commonly soar to 45ºC, the roof is a sweeping, curved structure with IPN profiles at the ends that work by compression, and ropes that give traction. Rainwater is collected for reuse, pumped to the highest point of the plates for subsequent distribution, thus cooling the whole roof.
