The project for an extension of the Design Museum Ghent is composed by a stacking of various geometrical figures. Together with a concrete slab defined by the perimeter of the site, the stacking offered a variety of spaces on each floor. While the main museum features such as exhibition rooms, cafes, and workshop rooms are accommodated within the geometrically regular spaces, the residual spaces of the slabs allow more flexible usage. On the street side they form terraces, and towards the courtyard they perform as anti-chambers, which provide additional exhibition space and resolve the circulation control to the different parts of the museum.
