Between Kupfergraben Canal and the west facade of the Neues Museum, on the Museum Island of Berlin, David Chipperfield is building the James Simon Galerie, which will mark the new entrance to the complex. The building, with a strong articulating character, organizes an access to the main floor of the Pergamon Museum via a large open staircase, while from the basement – with spaces for temporary exhibitions and an auditorium – it guides visitors to the Archaeological Promenade, which connects the four archaeological museums of the island.
