On the outskirts of the city of Valencia, in the municipality of Bétera, located east of the comarca Campo de Turia, stands this residence built by Hugo Mompó and Juan Grau.
Applying local codes and a maximum economy of means, a distilled rectangular block compositionally tackles the program, complemented by a small pool and a simple porch, to address the needs of a couple and two children.
Eight identical spaces arranged orthogonally are painted white between ceramic floors and the thick ceiling. Sliding panels compartmentalize the rooms while making it possible to create a single continuous space.
The layout and constructional solutions adopted are all conceived with a view to optimizing the building’s passive energy efficiency.
