Hotel Flint in Dornbirn

In 1892, Hotel Weiss opened across the old train station of Dornbirn. The new Flint hotel chain includes the old villa, a listed building now featuring six suites, the largest of which preserves original furniture. The tower and the two-floor podium make references to the preexisting construction. The design is based on a clear urbanistic concept that seeks to create a dialogue between new and existing. For one, the almost square tower is in depth and height aligned with the vertical component of the other building. The clear language of the scheme of the structure is accentuated by a homogeneous, sculptural facade: the high-precision concrete work and the stepped arrangement of the windows create a play of lights and shadows.
