House for a family of cats and dogs in Baeza

With a limited budget to stay within, this dwelling was designed and built with the needs of two persons, six cats, and six dogs in mind. Alex shares the feline penchant for high perches and secluded spots, and Lurdes the canine preference for the fluid breadth of a yard. Hence the play of connected isolated roofs providing spaces for lone contemplation, and an open, dynamic ground floor offering different configurations. The sanitation system enables reuse of rainwater and greywater, and passive strategies ensure climate control and the harnessing of renewable energy sources. When construction was completed, the rest of the plot was restored to its original state, with the rich biodiversity of the region, wild flowers, and aromatic plants requiring only minimal maintenance.
