House on Rua São Francisco de Borja in Lisbon

Ricardo Bak Gordon

With a contemporary language and deferring to the environment, this house is located in the Lisbon quarter of Lapa, by the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga. On a narrow and elongated plot, the dwelling presents a facade with wooden lattices on the doors of access and the garage, while the upper part clad with ceramic pieces is cut by the dining room window and an opening with vegetation. The house is composed of two volumes that share a common courtyard. The construction unfolds in different directions, horizontally between the more private spaces such as a bedrooms, or vertically through communal spaces until reaching the roof from which to enjoy panoramic views of the Tagus River.
