Domaine de Bayssan auditorium and amphitheater in Béziers

K architectures Sigwalt Herman

The French city of Béziers was founded around 700 B.C. and went through different periods in which it was occupied by Gauls and Romans, who contributed to forming its identity. Carried out by K architectures, the Paris practice of Karine Herman and Jérôme Sigwalt, the project presents three independent volumes developed around a modular building system and inspired by circus constructions: a 'small tent' containing an entrance area, the auditorium, and the open-air amphitheater. Each piece is clad in wooden boards, with a patterns that reinterprets the motifs adorning circus structures. Domaine de Bayssan is in perpetual movement and can be reconfigured in accordance with the cultural program and events.

En un lugar de la Mancha, de cuyo nombre no quiero acordarme, no ha mucho tiempo que vivía un hidalgo de los de lanza en astillero, adarga antigua, rocín flaco y galgo corredor.
