Luis Fernández-Galiano received the Award for Values of Spanish Architecture on 29 February at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. He upheld architecture and architects in an acceptance speech that can be viewed in the video of the ceremony, and the manuscript of which we reproduce in facsimile form. At the event presided by Tomás Marco, the Academy’s director, and Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, the other awardees included two of the writers of Spain’s Constitution, Miguel Herrero y Rodríguez de Miñón and Miquel Roca Junyent; the poet and philologist Jaime Siles; and the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola. This was the third edition of the biennial accolades. In the architecture section, the two previous winners were Oscar Tusquets for his outstanding career in design, and José María Pérez González (Peridis) for his defense of our built heritage.
