FAD Award 2020

Building in Sant Boi de Llobregat

28/07/2020

Presided in its 2020 edition by Anna Ramos, the FAD Award for Architecture went to an apartment block in Sant Boi de Llobregat, by the Madrid firm Estudio Herreros in collaboration with the local Estudi d’arquitectura MIMA-A. The jury deemed it “a meticulous typological exploration of the isolated housing development, incorporating courtyards and perforations to generate communal space as transition between the large scale of an exterior still under construction and the domestic scale.” Selected in the other categories were: Run Run Run café-restaurant in Madrid by Andrés Jaque / Office for Political Innovation, in Interiors; the Plaza de la Fuente revamp in Mansilla Mayor (León) by Ocamica Tudanca arquitectos, in City and Landscape; ‘MAD x MAD’ by Uriel Fogué, Eva Gil, and Carlos Palacios, in Ephemeral Interventions; and the Sáenz Valiente Building at Torcuato di Tella University in Buenos Aires by Josep Ferrando Architecture, in the International section. In Thought and Criticism, the winner was Viagem ao Invisível: Espaço, Experiência, Representação, coordinated by Luís Santiago Baptista and Maria Rita Pais.
