This is the permanent venue of the ZGC Forum, an annual conference, in the Zhongguancun area of Beijing’s Haidian district. Known as China’s Silicon Valley, Zhongguancun is a major technology center inhabited by many firms and institutions devoted to research.

The sculptural building presents an accessible, cantilevered, clover-like roof measuring 17,000 square meters. It is composed of 2,769 double-curvature aluminum panels arranged in patterns varying in density to facilitate rainwater collection. Encompassing a total area of approximately 65,000 square meters, the project respects a height limit of 12 meters, and gently spreads from north to south, blending with the cityscape.

The interior’s simplicity results in spaces that are easy to use and conducive to social interaction. Two large ETFE skylights let daylight flood the premises.
