A 2013 competition involving three residential buildings for the Société Nationale des Habitations à Bon Marché, in Luxembourg’s Kirchberg quarter, was won by the Madrid practice of Atxu Amann, Andrés Cánovas, and Nicolás Maruri – in collaboration with João Nunes and Carlos Ribas of the Lisbon landscaping team PROAP – and carried out in collabration with another Madrid firm, AMM arquitectura, headed by Adelino Magalhaes.

Adapting to the strict regulations, three volumes – one of them large – break up to insert themselves into the setting and use color as differentiators. The fronts located at the plot’s outer edge open up to the city, while the facades looking in are oriented in a way that optimizes views of a public park and garden zones, which are the heart of the project. Combining walls of reinforced concrete and facades of lacquered steel, the blocks present varied typologies, flexible and transformable.
