DJI headquarters in Shenzhen

In the Nanshan District of southwest Shenzhen, in southeastern China, two towers of 44 and 40 floors rise from podiums surrounded with vegetation. The new headquarters of the robotics company DJI, specialized in drone technology, presents cantilevering volumes containing offices and research facilities. The steel structure reduces the need for columns, which makes it possible to put in four-height laboratories for drone flight testing. Standing 105 meters, the buildings are connected by a suspension sky-bridge 90 meters long. Views are maximized, as is daylight, keeping energy consumption as low as possible through an intelligent control system. Rainwater is harvested and stored for reuse, and gray water is recycled for irrigation. The garden areas absorb rain and act as buffers during the monsoon season.
