Like a greenhouse, the new volume of wood and glass lets natural light in. Because of shadows cast by the building itself and by neighboring ones, insolation is never excessive.

The facade of the extension is detached from the vertical line of the property, freeing the two arches that originally enclosed the indoor space, and which and now provide a transition between the living-dining room and the new gallery with the kitchen and study. Separating the facade freed the envelope of the constraints of the existing building, with small inflections making it possible for the busiest areas to be more spacious, both inside and outside.
