Piedra Grande Equestian Clubhouse in Huixquilucan

Studio RC

Combining wood, stone, and concrete, this equestrian complex is located within an 8-hectare site in Huixquilucan, in the State of Mexico. With a contemporary language appropriate to the context of the location, the facilities include a clubhouse and 110 stables, which are divided into three two-level modules connected by steel bridges and organized around an open central courtyard where the horses move about. These modules – each one measuring 4 x 3 meters – give rhythm to the dark gray concrete facade interspersed with the wooden panels of the windows. The uniform geometry of the stables is interrupted only by the sawtooth roof of one of the modules. The project takes advantage of the sloping topography by creating a broad cantilevered terrace – and splendid views of the surroundings – for the rectilinear clubhouse.
