The firm 3XN has won the competition to build a visitor hub on the port in Assens, a city on the Danish island of Funen. An oval-shaped building will accommodate exhibitions and activities throwing light on the impact of human beings and climate change on the sea. The 700-square-meter wooden construction rises two floors and has a cross-shaped central part. Towards the town, the roof of the Danish Centre for Coastal Nature and Sport Fishing is set higher to welcome arriving visitors and give access to a rooftop terrace. Complementing the project are wooden piers and an artificial reef.
