The irish Dermot Boyd and Peter Cody both graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology in 1990, although they developed their careers independently in Europe and in the United States up to the year 2000, when they established their studio together in Dublin. Since then the studio has been involved mainly in the design of housing projects, paying special attention to the research with different materials and to the analysis of the relationships between interior space and physical context.

The construction of a single-family house (which earned an honorable mention of the AR Awards for Emerging Architecture in 2006) set over three separate levels and located on a small infill corner site close to Dublin’s city center, reflects well the interests of the team: the desire to extend the interior spaces by opening two courtyards on ground floor and the use of a varied palette of materials that includes brick on the facades and oak wood and concrete for the interior finishes...[+]
