The intervention on this terrain in the province of Jaén resulted from contemplating and reflecting on how olives fall to the ground – some half-buried, others dispersed or leaning on one another. With a built area of 5,966 square meters, the hexagonal composition for the oil mill and olive-oil-tourism center of the firm Acesur presents volumes that vary in height, in accordance with their uses. The voids betwee modules are interconnected with deliberated randomness.

The complex consists of a building for extracting olive oil, a warehouse with four ‘petals’ resembling the olive flower, a construction for ancillary facilities, a reception area with a store and a conference room, and spaces for offices, laboratories, and staff. The geometrical shapes – half-buried and surrounded by vegetation – have light claddings in a color resembling olive oil, blending the building with the landscape. The entrance is marked by a tree-lined avenue that leads to a hexagonal landscaped plaza, executed with riprap.
