The grain silo of Cape Town had since the 1920s been used to store and process corn coming from different parts of South Africa. Over twenty years after it closed down, it has undergone an overhaul to house the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. The preexisting building had two parts: a classification tower, which now serves as a lighthouse for the port and the city; and forty-two vertical concrete tubes, the transformation of which was the main technical challenge of the project.
