The exhibition ‘Cartographies of the Unknown’ gathers more than 200 pieces from the collection of the National Library of Spain as well as other institutions, like the National Geographic Institute, the Royal Academy of History, the Royal Palace, and the Library of El Escorial. Organized in six sections, the exhibition features maps of fantasy places such as Atlantis or Hell, as well as geographic interpretations that reflect political, military, and strategic interests, questioning the neutrality and objectivity of these documents and stressing their importance as power-charged documents.
