The Royal Collections Gallery gives continuity to the plinth of the Royal Palace, forming a linear building that follows the royal residence’s existing lines – traced in the 18th century by the Italian architect Giovanni Battista Sacchetti – and contributing to wrapping up the historical landscape – both natural and artificial – of Madrid’s southern lip.
The Gallery is a new text that has been written on previous writing, imbibed with an at once weighty and light materiality that makes reference to the time that has passed for the stones of the palace.
