Television City in Los Angeles

Foster + Partners

The Los Angeles City Council has approved Foster+Partners’ Television City scheme, to be carried out for the real estate developer Hackman Capital Partners. This project will update the 1952 buildings designed by William Pereira and transform the 25-acre site into a modern low-rise campus consisting of new sound stages, production offices, and retail premises along its perimeter.

With William Pereira’s buildings as central axis, the complex is organized in two zones: one focusing on content production and the other on media operations. This arrangement improves efficiency and enhances collaboration among departments.

The new constructions show greenery on the rooftops, maximize incoming light, and connect with streets, ppcket parks, and courtyards full of vegetation. In addition, the design incorporates local materials, a renewable-energy system, and an innovative mobility hub with a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program reducing vehicle trips.
