Drawing from local building tradition, the Jincheng multipurpose space hosts activities essential to the inhabitants of Xiaoshi Village, in Pengzhou, reconstructed after the 2008 earthquake that shook Sichuan Province. A work of the Chinese firm Studio Dali Architects, the open construction unifies interconnected spaces under one roof. The perforated zigzagging roof presents a play of broken lines, with inclinations evoking nearby mountains. The facility seeks to be a shelter addressing the needs of the villagers, offering itself as a venue for weddings and funerals but also as a place for storing farming tools and grains.
