The Central Campus Building, as it is called, is part of a masterplan – also drawn up by the Norwegian firm Snøhetta – to expand the research and engineering facilities of Ford Motor Company, at the multinational automaker’s headquarters in Dearborn.
The complex comprises a series of constructions interconnected by gardens and courtyards. The Central Campus Building will place some 6,400 employees in offices, design studios, laboratories, and workshops. With curving and straight lines combined to give a sense of movement, the building contains functional spaces that facilitate interaction among different departments, as well as outdoor work areas.
