The last factory in the Lujiazui area in Pudong, once the industrial outskirts of Shanghai and now the city’s financial center, is refurbished to include a commercial program and a mid-size theater facility.

The west front – the main facade of the building – is designed to set up a dialogue between the north and south sides. It does so via a brick latticework that gradually varies its density and permeability: opaque on the north and transparent on the south.
