Designed to accommodate a diversity of creative and artistic activities, including the members of Platoon Network, the building has been configured by the reutilization of thirty-four standardized transport containers. In this manner, the strict modular arrangement that is imposed by the unique compositional elements used functions as a mechanism for formal restraint, and also as a tool for design definition. Each one of the containers here encloses a space of 76 cubic meters, and weighs 4,000 kilograms when it is empty. Besides their own weight, they are made to take an additional load of 26,580 kilograms. This makes them perfect units for the loadbearing structures of buildings. Both the interior space and the exterior appearance of the work present the containers naked, as they originally were, in what amounts to an exercise in the constructional sincerity and ecological responsibility that ought to be the order of the day in the 21st century.
