Construction has begun at the site of a new daycare center for children of employees of Munich’s Technical University (TUM), with completion programmed for the end of 2025. Located at Gabelsbergerstrasse 41, it will be called Ingeborg Pohl Kinderoase an der TUM, and its five levels will contain spaces of different scales designed to spark creativity, connected by slides. There will be 700 square meters at the disposal of 60 children. A covered roof terrace will enable the children to play and enjoy sheltered outdoor space with panoramic views across Munich.
In collaboration with the Austrian firm Hermann Kaufmann + Partner, experts in wood construction, the new building on the TUM campus will be raised mostly with timber, always in keeping with the local norms and standards of energy efficiency, thermal comfort, fire protection, and acoustics, the aim being to minimize the building carbon footprint.
